Western Ranch, Podoli. May 25-27, 2012. Horse-riding and Zouk/Latin weekend.

Friday night, arrival. You can’t see it, but we’re actually on the top bunk beds getting ready to snooze. I must say I was lucky to get the most comfortable pillow ever for myself! And thus began the lovely weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

Saturday morning, view over the ranch: our ‘huts’. It’s amazing how well one can sleep in the wooden constructions!

Lovely scenery

Saloon – that’s where all the dancing was taking place ๐Ÿ™‚

After the Saturday morning workshop, we set off to a nearby restaurant for lunch.

Of course, going through the woods is much more fun than taking the regular road :).

Lovely walk!

Advancing towards the food.

Screaming at people to move away from the picture frame ๐Ÿ˜€

Zazi still crashed my shot… Oh well!

At least I got a clear on this one ๐Ÿ™‚

Flowers :).

From here on we had to decide which way to go…

Right down there ahead (can you see the red parasols?…) was our destination. Normal people took the trail…

Less than normal people decided to cut the distance and walk straight through the field :).

After successfully climbing under the wired fence that was the last and greatest obstacle on our way, we discovered we were at the right place: the camping territory of the restaurant we were heading to.

Zazi took a bath in the dirtier pool than this one before the fence…

Almost at the restaurant!

The ‘abnormal’ people (us) arrived a couple of minutes earlier than the rest, proving that the shortcut was worth it. Maybe we infected everyone else with abnormality?…Oh, and it was taking forever to get the food!

The food was great though and well worth the wait… Oh yeah – we can look like decent human beings at times, too ๐Ÿ™‚

Back at the ranch, group 1 getting ready to ride for the first time – 1 hour should be enough for them :).

Why you no look at me?!

THAT’s better! ๐Ÿ™‚

Lovely pair!

Michaela looks like she was born for it!

Posers ๐Ÿ™‚

It was obvious that this was love at first sight ๐Ÿ™‚

Katka also looks happy ๐Ÿ™‚

Monika on the XXS horse :). She loved it so much that she went for both rides!

Radoslav is ready to go. We waved goodbye to the first group and went off to wait for our turn…

Time for group two! Since we were not first-timers, we decided to go for the two hour, faster ride. Sinclair looking excited ๐Ÿ™‚

Jan’s Hollywood smile

We even had our own proper cowboy (aka Pavel) with us :).

And off we went!

Riding through the fields…

Enjoying the scenery…

Horses needed to cool off after galloping, so the 2nd hour was all walking, even though at first they were so pumped up that they wanted to break into a run at every opportunity!

Through the forest… Maybe we should have signed the geo-catching notebook at the St. Bartholomei ruins?..

Pausing for a minute…

Final minutes of the lovely ride

Time went by so fast!

Later that night we had a great barbecue.

Fun talk, tender meat and some interesting music from Monika’s laptop ๐Ÿ™‚

“It’s all for meeeeeee!!!!!! :D”

I’m known for wondering over the strangest things, so here is one I still haven’t solved: if the sign is supposed to be as if inside the USA, Texas would be the first destination – the closest, the domestic one. It should thus read “Texas, Mexico” – not the other way around! Why is it swapped?!

Stars came out and it got fully dark – it was time for the Saturday night party at the Saloon. It didn’t last as long as planned, since everyone was pretty tired after riding, but it was great fun anyway :). We all went to sleep happily tired :).

On the way back to Prague, I tried to take a few snap shots of this pretty church from the car window…

It didn’t exactly work according to the plan…

However, Sinclair was kind enough to stop the car for a couple of minutes, so I could take a couple of pictures while steady

I did just that, and off we went, concluding the great weekend.

Many thanks to everyone who came for the weekend, to Monika for organizing it all and to Sinclair for the ride – we had a great time! Let’s do something like this again in the future!

More pictures from the weekend can be found here and here.

About in shade

A cocktail of personality traits hard to digest for some but ultimately soothing for those who can. I observe, enjoy, travel, interact, photograph, dance, contemplate, write and love my way through this life's countless occurrences. This blog is a way to share with the world and its people some of the treasures they give me every day.
